Meet Charley !

We have been feeding a stray cat for the past few weeks, he had been coming in and eating, which spooked our other four cats, so I started leaving a plate of food at the end of the garden.  Then one day he appeared behind me.  He's very friendly, a real chunky cat too, not been neutered, but he did have a collar on, but no tag.  I removed that as it was a bit tight and not the quick release kind so I was concerned he might get caught up.  We took him to our vets about 4 weeks ago to see if he had been micro chipped, but he hadn't, so we asked in the village and put 5 posters up, but have heard nothing.  He has gradually moved in, and is here 75% of the time.  He sits in an armchair in the conservatory.  We've wormed him as he was eating and eating, and I also put some Frontline on him over the weekend.  We wonder how old he is, but it's difficult to tell.  Our other cats are still wary, but they seem to be jogging along together.  Here's a couple of pics of him.

  1. He's a beautiful cat, maybe he has come from further afield than the village and that's why there's been no response

  2. Is he a 'boy' (with all his 'bits' ) Looking at him he looks quite round faced, they usually lose that once 'done' (not always!)he looks like he's found the 'puuurrfect' home!
Jinx (real name Bruno) our lodger cat has been known to us for about 6 years, the last two and a half years he's moved in. He's owners took 18months to contact me, then only because they were told by a neighbour who'd seen us out walking (he'll go round to the shop, my mums, or just for a walk, or even for a drive!...mad cat) He was living with about three children, his own mum and sister cats and then they bought a dog. His first Christmas with us he had a really bad leg, so maybe the new dog bit him and that was the final straw, he moved out! I always say, no one owns a cat! Dogs have owners, cats have staff!!

    1. Yes Lyn, he definitely has all his bits :o) We reckoned that's why he is so chunky, with such a big, almost square head ! He meows a lot, and for an un-neutered male is fairly placid, we have one 3 year old male, Chile, and he is a big cat and seems to put Charley in his place from time to time, just so he knows who's boss ! The other three females are a little less sure of themselves in his presence though. I'd love to know more about him but don't think that's going to happen. Sounds like your Jinx put up with a lot in his previous home, no wonder he moved out...you're right, cats own us, not the other way around...as the saying goes, "I'm just a cat and we'll get along fine, as long as you remember, I'm not yours, you're mine !"
