Sisters of Craft "Anything Goes" September Challenge

This month will be our last challenge for a while.  Our sponsor is Fabrika Fantasy.  The prize will be 3 digis from the store.

I have chosen the Halloween Cat image.  I coloured in with Whisper markers, stippled a pale background in Faded jeans Distress Ink, drew a moon circle and added a few bats and crooked trees using Visible Image stamps and Stazon jet Black ink.  The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards, as are the cobwebs.  I cut up a sentiment banner from their Sentiments book as it was too big to stick on in one piece.  The little wooden pumpkins are something I bought a year or so ago in a local shop. The background paper is from my stash as is the polka dot ribbon.  I also added the spider dangling from the hat !

Hope you like my card.  keep an eye on the blog next month for more news, and of course our Facebook page.

Come and join in the fun at www.sistersofcraft.blogspot.com.

Sisters of Craft "Anything Goes" August challenge

It's that time again, the start of a new challenge.  I've been unwell for almost 3 weeks with a nasty cold/virus, so July seems to have flown by.  I'm on the mend, but these bugs certainly take their time to go.

This month our sponsor is Mina & Moo Designs, and the prize is 2 items from the shop.

I chose to use one of the coloured woodgrain papers and the owls digital clipart.  Here's what I came up with....

I covered a DL card with the woodgrain paper, and cut out 4 of the owl designs.  I added a couple of strings of bunting with gems, then thought it would be fun to have a "totem pole" of owls, with a couple of the "Hoot Hoot" sentiments that come with them.  I added some Cosmic Shimmer glitters to their chests, and also googly eyes to bring them to life and give a bit of movement, and a bit more fun too...nothing like eyes following you around the room ! A plain black birthday sentiment finished off the card.

Come and join in at the sistersofcraft.blogspot.com and tell your friends !

Sisters of Craft "Anything Goes" July Challenge

This month our challenge is sponsored by Angie's Digital Stamps.

I chose to use "The Birdhouse" and here's what I came up with, using a DL card for a change as I think they're under-rated !  I coloured the image with Whisper pens, distressed around the edge of the topper with Forest Moss distress ink and used some Woodland theme paper from my stash as I like the owls hooting away.  I thought I'd install one of the owls inside the house as it looked a bit vacant on it's own !  I also added a few punched out leaves, ferns and flowers. The tag is from the Craftwork Cards Sentiments pad, and I coloured it with a Whisper pen and added a yellow bow.  Hope you like it.

Come and join in the fun, we love to see your creations...www.sistersofcraft.blogspot.com

Hunkydory little book images

I've got a few of the above books now, they prove very useful, whether for quick cards or for others with a bit more time spent on them.  I made a selection of cards for men using the Gentleman's Journey book, just sticking them onto A6 kraft card blanks, trimming to size and stamping a Happy Birthday greeting inside.  Here's a picture of the first batch...

They seem to be popular !

Cards for the men

With Father's Day looming mid month, I had a concerted effort to make some male themed cards.  It's never easy, but I persevered, using a mixture of Craftwork Cards and Hunkydory stash.  Here are a few of them....

Using a pre-cut card and accessories from "Man Made"...the card has been coloured with distress ink...

Also card blank (+ distress ink ) and accessories from "Man Made...

Card blank (+ distress ink) and sentiment tab from "Man Made", topper from a Hunkydory little book and little fish cut from a Joy die...

Sisters of Craft "Anything Goes" June Challenge

1st June already, which is supposed to mean the first day of summer, but the weather in some parts of the UK, including where I live, aren't feeling any warmth or seeing any blue skies or sunshine at the moment...hopefully someday very soon....

It's the start of another challenge and this time our sponsor is Cre8tive Hands.

Unfortunately Michelle from Cre8tive Hands is no longer running her Etsy business, (you can still obtain free images from her blog though), therefore the winner of this month's challenge will win a mystery gift arranged by the DT !

I chose to use the Hot Chocolate digi, and kept things simple by adding the picture to a pre-embossed card. I coloured the hearts and centre frame with my pink Whisper pen, and the image with the pink Whisper pen together with a Cool Grey 1 promarker.  Sometimes less is more eh !

Don't forget to come and join in the fun !  www.sistersofcraft.blogspot.com

Sisters of Craft "Anything Goes" May Challenge

Goodness me, I can't believe it's the 1st of May already....that heralds another challenge, and this time our sponsor is "Decoupage Delights".

The prize is one download of the winner's choice.

I chose to use the "Cats and Roses" design, but I was spoilt for choice as there are so many designs in the Floral Fantasy collection.  I printed the image and mounted it onto an A5 card with a deckle edge.  I then cut out part of the rose and the circle containing part of the cats and layered them up on the main image.  I have to add that I didn't use all the parts of the rose provided as I didn't want lots of layers, but this means I have enough to create another card using perhaps just a single picture of a rose.

I used glossy accents to create  the look of dew on the rose and added some glamour dust generally as well.  I also used Nuvo Copper Penny pearl drops in the corners.

Don't forget to join in at www.sistersofcraft.blogspot.com, and come and join our Facebook group if you haven't already !

Home from home

I bought these little birdhouses and have painted this one with "Mulch"  and "Pumpkin"eco-friendly acrylic paint, then added some candi from Craftwork Cards and drew in some stems with a promarker.  The little bird embellishment has been painted with the pumpkin paint and finished off with a promarker.  I also added some gems across the front.

I am entering this into the "Anything Goes" challenge at LC Designs.

Sleeping kitty

Here's a card I made using a Little Claire stamp on a pre-embossed card.  I coloured the image with Whisper pens and added some glamour dust, then a selection of Craftwork Cards candi which I covered in glossy accents.

Graphic 45 easel card

I just made this card for my sister's birthday, I used Graphic 45's "Raining Cats and Dogs" collection, some vintage lace, Tonic Nuvo drops and the little charm is an astrological one for the sign "Aries".  I told her she was highly honoured as it's the first time I've cut into this collection !!

Give a big Welcome to "The Huggables" !

Here's what I did with Craftwork Cards "Huggables".  I coloured the insides of the chicks' and rabbits' arms with promarkers so that when they folded over they weren't stark white, then I added some matching gingham ribbon and bows, orange and yellow for the chicks, and red and pink for the rabbits.  I attached Cadbury's chocolate mini eggs in a little bag tied with twine to the chicks, (with the help of a stripey paperclip), and Bassett's Jelly Bunnies to the rabbits (3 sweets per bag on each). They were fun to make !

Here they are with my Hunkydory bird boxes....

My colouring exploits

It's been a stressful few months as my husband has had health problems.  Hopefully he is on the right side of things now, and I have to say that doing some colouring in the evenings did stop me from stressing out too much.  They are all from the My Thyme Book No. 1 (I haven't started on the other books yet !), and I used a combination of Sakura jelly roll pens, (sparkle, metallic and glaze), plus watercolour pencils too.  The owl is my favourite !

This is my minimalist effort !!....

Hunkydory bird boxes

I had forgotten about these to be honest, and decided to have a go at putting them together.  I sell a few of my cards and thought these might be handy for little easter egg gift boxes.  They were easy to construct and I still have another set to make, so they were good vfm.  I threaded either ribbon or bakers twine through the top and added the little tags provided.

In four different colours, pink, purple, brown and green, I used red liner tape to secure the edges and Cosmic Shimmer glue to add the little extras.   Here they all are together.....

Warren the rabbit

I don't often make Easter cards but after getting Craftwork Cards "Warren and Lola" pads I used two of the designs to make a couple of cards.  I distressed around the edge with Squeezed Lemonade ink, then used some of my little tapestry flower and leaf stamps, also using distress ink, Faded Jeans and Forest Moss.  I used my corner punch to round off the edges of the topper just to give it a softer look. I added some glamour dust just for a subtle bit of glitter and then I used a rabbit punch on the insert, with a strip of gold mirri card behind where I had punched the rabbits, and I put three little dots of ink between each one to try and give a bit of momentum to them !

I did also make a couple of other Easter cards, one using Creata 3D stickers and a Craftwork Cards sentiment, which I coloured with a promarker to blend in.  I am so glad I bought the Book of Sentiments from them as it has come in very handy !  The other card is made using a Hunkydory design, again with a Craftwork Cards banner.

Sisters of Craft "Anything Goes" April Challenge

Hi all, it's the start of a new month and this time we are being sponsored by Moonflower... the prize is $10 worth of digital stamps.

I chose to use the "Gypsy Flower" image...

Instead of colouring everything, I decided to use some adhesive fabric to create a "proper" dress for her, and cut small patterns so I could get the sizes correct to fit the image.  I then added some vintage lace trim, with some resin and paper roses in her hair.  I used promarkers to colour the remaining areas, and the backing paper is from a First Edition Pad. The word stamps are from Craftwork Cards. I was quite pleased with the outcome (even though I say so myself !) and hope you like her as well.

Come and join in the fun !  www.sistersofcraft.blogspot.com.

Sisters of Craft "Anything Goes" March challenge

This month our sponsor is Faery Ink Digital Stamps.  The prize is to be confirmed nearer the time.

Here's what I came up with, using two of the digi designs.

I used "Gabbie - Orchard Faery"....the base card is Hunkydory. I coloured the image with watercolour pencils and added a little glamour dust to the flowers. I mounted the image on top of a Hobby House die cut scalloped circle, added some sticky ribbon and a Craftwork Cards circular sentiment coloured with a distress ink.  I then cut some apples, a butterfly and a ladybird from some designs and added them,  The flowers in the forefront are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

And "Mama, Owl Love You 4 Ever"....the base card is Hunkydory.  I coloured the image with promarkers and Phill Martin's Frosted Mink twinkles glitter, plus a little red stickles glitter on the large heart and smaller hearts.  I used a stencil for the background with Worn Lipstick and Weathered Wood distress inks stippled through, and added a few star gems and a Craftwork Cards sentiment banner coloured with the Worn Lipstick ink.  I mounted the image onto kraft card and rounded the edges with a corner punch.  I then added a strip of owl ribbon.

Come and join in the fun and see the DT samples at http://www.sistersofcraft.blogspot.com

Valentine special

My husband's nickname is "Scarecrow"...we live out in the sticks and that's what his mates have called him...so for his Valentine card I used a Craftwork Cards design, which was very apt !

He was quite impressed !  See what you think of it....I'm also adding a picture of the flowers he sent me.  The lillies were gorgeous when they flowered, and the largest I've seen I think.

Sisters of Craft "Anything Goes" February Challenge

Another month, another new challenge !  This time our sponsor is LUNA GIRL on Etsy.

I chose the Birds design sheet and came up with this card.
I used a Kraft card A4 sheet, scored and folded at not quite A4 with an edge showing down the right hand side as you look at it.
I used First Edition New Leaf papers, some hessian, a Craftwork Cards sentiment, coloured with Ivory promarker to blend in, a doily and some Tattered Lace leaf dies, cut out in green and copper papers. I was going to put the hessian straight across the card, but when I laid it down it took on a curved shape which I quite liked, so I left it that way !
Rather than mat the images onto card I edged them with a Cocoa promarker and added some small gems, plus some Stardust stickles, which I also added to some of the leaves on the background paper.

Normally I use an insert inside my cards, but recently have been trying different things.  This time, as I had added some of the paper to the edge of the card I thought another doily and image would look good.  I edged the image with a Plum promarker this time, to match the colouring on the birds, added some Stardust stickles again, and edged along the edge of the paper with Cosmic Shimmer twinkles, in Phill Martin's Frosted Mink colour.

Thanks for looking, hope you like what I've done.

The prize for the overall 1st prize winner is a $15 discount from the store. But remember we always do pick a second and third winner as well and these winners can claim the "Top 3 Winners Status Badge" on the Winners Tab of the blog.    Most important though....don't forget you are only allowed a maximum number of three entries....we choose the winners ourselves, so it's not a case of a random choice, therefore any entry over three will not be included !

Come and join in the fun, we enjoy seeing your creations.  Visit the blog at

Sisters of Craft "Anything Goes" January 2016 Challenge

Happy New Year one and all !  Above is my effort using Digital Scrapworld's "Safari" kit.  They are the sponsors this month for our monthly challenge.  I am not a digital crafter, but have to say that all the elements in this kit (and there are a lot of them to choose from !), made it a very enjoyable experience, lots of fun chopping and changing things around, and very therapeutic too !  It's been a bit hectic here since mid December when my husband suffered his second heart attack, this one more serious than the last which was five and a half years ago.  He's doing ok, but has to go back into hospital in February for another procedure.  He can't drive for another week so I've been on the go a fair bit and so it was good for me to sit and focus on this project.  I had a bit of a struggle getting to grips with saving my finished work, but that was all down to user error, ie ME !!  My husband helped me out as he's a bit of a whizz on computer related stuff ! (thankfully !).  Anyway, I hope you like my little Safari page, please look at our blog to see the other DT members' creations and do join in with the challenge, there are always good prizes to be won !
